The Trident Farm Fresh Heat Pumps is a division of Toyesi Pty. Ltd. Toyesi developed its heat pumps for farm applications including Aquaculture, Hydroponics and Horticulture.
In Australia, most heat pumps come from the swimming pool industry. Imported domestic grade heat pumps are usually designed and build on a budget. Domestic heat pumps are not designed for the high demands of farm use and therefore not recommended. Many are also heating only and also prone to suffer critical freeze up issues. The freeze-ups are more likely to happen when used at extensive workloads they are put through.

Temperature is an important and potentially limiting factor in growing plants in any hydroponic or NFT System.
- Low Root Temperatures can hamper water and Nutrient uptake by roots.
- High Root Temperatures can unduly stress plants and damage root systems.
- Highly variable root zone temperatures severely stress plants. Even more than just a cold or hot root zone. Because of this, it is more important to control root zone temperatures.
- Ideal Temperatures do vary from plant to plant. It is important to research your plant being grown, before engaging a temperature control system.
- Water temperatures around 22oC to 26oC are a relatively safe guide and will have amazing benefits – shorten germination times and speed up the growth of seedlings.

Modifying Growth Seasons.
Plants such as vegetables can be loosely grouped according to their growing season. These seasons are based on natural growing conditions for that given plant. It is during these conditions that will maximise the plants growth, health and produce production. With the ability to control a plants environment you can also mimic these growth conditions extending growing periods. Not only that, some plants can be tricked into additional growth seasons, giving multiple crops a year.
Cool Season Vegetables:
Grow best when temperatures are between 10-20 degrees Celsius or even lower. They include broad beans, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, onions, peas, spinach and turnips.
Intermediate Season Vegetables:
These are best between temperatures of 15-25 degrees. Include beetroot, carrot, parsnip, celery, leek, lettuce, radish and silverbeet.
Warm Season vegetables:
Are grown best when temperatures are above 20 degrees C. Include: Beans, capsicum, eggplant, potato, sweet corn, sweet potato, tomato and cucurbits (including cucumbers, zucchini and pumpkins etc.)
So to extend the seasons is to control or mimic the temperature and light conditions of the seasons that the plants grow best in. Heating the roots, and controlling ambient temperatures is one of the best ways to achieve this.
