Introduction

The Trident Farm Fresh Heat Pumps is a division of Toyesi Pty. Ltd.  Toyesi developed its heat pumps for farm applications including Aquaculture, Hydroponics and Horticulture.

In Australia, most heat pumps come from the swimming pool industry. Imported domestic grade heat pumps are usually designed and build on a budget. Domestic heat pumps are not designed for the high demands of farm use and therefore not recommended. Many are also heating only and also prone to suffer critical freeze up issues. The freeze-ups are more likely to happen when used at extensive workloads they are put through.

Toyesi Heat Pumps

Toyesi’s heat pumps are designed and built with efficiency and quality in mind. This design enables the Toyesi’s Farm Fresh range to survive the high demands of farm use. They are also come with advanced defrost handling and internal safeties to prevent freeze-ups.

Unlike pool heat pumps, Toyesi’s Farm Fresh range has true reverse-cycle temperature control. This means they can maintain the ideal temperature for your plants all year round. We also can offer a wide range of options to suit different applications.

Typical Applications and Solutions Include:
  • Hydroponic water temperature control  – Preset temperature control for NFT, DWC and other Hydroponic setups.
  • Root Zone Temperature Control  – Root and bench-warming solutions
  • Humidity and Temperature Control – Ideal solutions for small to medium greenhouses.
  • Hydronic Greenhouse Heating – Heat pumps for circulation hydronic radiant greenhouse heating. Often Coupled with a gas-based system, utilising the rapid ramp ability of gas with the cost-saving benefits of a heat pump.
  • Energy Capture and Reuse – By capturing normally wasted (vented) heat energy you can reuse this energy for other uses including water heating, space heating and more.
  • Dehumidification & Water Recapture – Assists in managing humidity levels, and recaptures space moisture for reuse. Helps prevent leaf rot and greenhouse mould build-up. Also reduces wastewater and is very useful during drought times.
  • Multi-Function PCVER System – Aquatic Water Temperature control coupled with Ventilation, dehumidification and Energy Recovery.

But why use Heating and Cooling?

Benefits

Temperature control is critical for the well being of plants, increased growth and thus an increase in produce and profit. However, root zone temperature, space temperature, hydroponics, Hydronics, ventilation, air circulation and water temperature are all critical areas that farms need to consider when assessing any particular solution.

Effects of Temperature

Temperature is an important and potentially limiting factor in growing plants in any hydroponic or NFT System.

  • Low Root Temperatures can hamper water and Nutrient uptake by roots.
  • High Root Temperatures can unduly stress plants and damage root systems.
  • Highly variable root zone temperatures severely stress plants. Even more than just a cold or hot root zone. Because of this, it is more important to control root zone temperatures.
  • Ideal Temperatures do vary from plant to plant. It is important to research your plant being grown, before engaging a temperature control system.
  • Water temperatures around 22oC to 26oC  are a relatively safe guide and will have amazing benefits – shorten germination times and speed up the growth of seedlings.

After understanding your plant’s requirements, a Toyesi Trident Farm Fresh heat pump solution truly can assist you in creating the optimum growth temperatures with huge potential plant growth and yields.

Modifying Growth Seasons.

Plants such as vegetables can be loosely grouped according to their growing season. These seasons are based on natural growing conditions for that given plant. It is during these conditions that will maximise the plants growth, health and produce production. With the ability to control a plants environment you can also mimic these growth conditions extending growing periods. Not only that, some plants can be tricked into additional growth seasons, giving multiple crops a year.

Cool Season Vegetables:

Grow best when temperatures are between 10-20 degrees Celsius or even lower. They include broad beans, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, onions, peas, spinach and turnips.

Intermediate Season Vegetables:

These are best between temperatures of 15-25 degrees. Include beetroot, carrot, parsnip, celery, leek, lettuce, radish and silverbeet.

Warm Season vegetables:

Are grown best when temperatures are above 20 degrees C. Include: Beans, capsicum, eggplant, potato, sweet corn, sweet potato, tomato and cucurbits (including cucumbers, zucchini and pumpkins etc.)

So to extend the seasons is to control or mimic the temperature and light conditions of the seasons that the plants grow best in. Heating the roots, and controlling ambient temperatures is one of the best ways to achieve this.

Toyesi Trident Farm Fresh Smart Heat Pumps

Why Toyesi

Toyesi’s Trident Farm Fresh smart heat pumps are designed to manage true reverse-cycle temperature control so that you can meet the needs of plant root health and ideal optimum temperatures.

  • Australian designed & Australian made since 1989.
  • Easy to operate, economical to run & serviceable for life.
  • Built-in Sydney, but designed so that your local specialist can install, maintain and service our equipment keeping down-times to a minimum.
  • Preset temperatures – set and forget and the heat pump does the rest.
  • Readily available local parts meaning NO long waits for overseas parts to arrive.
  • We work with industry specialists to ensure a turnkey solution where possible.
  • We listen, we learn we improve with you and for you.
PCVER and other Transthermal Energy Management Solutions

The PCVER System can be used as a stand-alone system within smaller greenhouses or stacked with other systems or other PCVER systems. The advantage of stacking the Toyesi PCVER system is that it will reduce the overall heating requirements of the greenhouse and reduce wasted ventilated heat energy, captured for later use.

The PCVER Greenhouse System has several key functions and options.
  • Horticultural designed heat pump
  • Dehumidification
  • Clean condensate water for reuse
  • Improved ventilation and airflow
  • Energy capture, storage and recovery
  • Green option and Energy savings – lower footprint
  • Temperature control
  • Hydroponic water temperature control
  • Disease susceptibility reduction
  • Reduce overall running cost
  • Optional Benefits – Root zone heating, floor heating, hydroponic heating, Radiant space heating, Aquaponic water heating and cooling
